Dear Families,

On behalf of the staff at Barrington Elementary School we welcome you all to a new year of learning, growing, and fun. We are looking forward to making your child’s education experience challenging, memorable and meaningful.

The first few weeks in the classroom will focus on building classroom communities as we establish routines, procedures, responsibilities and expectations. We will also be reviewing skills and learning they have acquired from the previous grade. So please, do not be alarmed if you do not see lengthy and challenging work come home in the first few weeks. I assure you our teachers are setting the stage for a year of thoughtful and challenging learning experiences for all students.

This summer, 30 of our staff members participated in a 4 day Responsive Classroom Training, and we couldn't be more excited to bring those techniques and strategies into the classroom and our school environment.  The Responsive Classroom philosophy is based on making the most of our teaching time in an environment where students feel safe, respected and challenged. While our teachers do a great job at meeting this challenge, we are excited that our students will be hearing and learning consistent language associated with these expectations

As we begin our year together, we understand that you are your child’s first teacher, and we want to be your partner in your child’s learning. Our staff members are available for communication by email or telephone. So please, feel free to contact your child’s teacher, our counselors, or the administration, if you ever have any questions or concerns about your child’s education. In addition to the many opportunities you will have to communicate with your child’s teacher, you can also stay informed through classroom newsletters, the BES News Flash, the BES Facebook page, and our district website.   Also, there are wonderful opportunities to be involved with our Parent Teacher Association.  The first PTA sponsored event for families, the  “Welcome Back Barbeque and Drive-In Movie”, will be held on Friday, September 25h at 5:30!  Hope to see you there!

Here’s to a great year of learning for all!
